I first met Larry when we were classmates in the nordic ski class many years ago. We became close friends. Larry shared a lot of his life with me over the years. I 'll remember skiing with him, snowshoeing with him, scrambling with him. I'll remember the summer "after work" evening hikes. I'll remember the many meetings held around his table in Mill Creek, the special "Christmas lights" walks in his neigborhood he arranged for friends, the backpack trips where we shared miles and our love of the outdoors. I'll remember his homemade pies and his distinctive laugh and the way his hair looked all rumpled after a day in the mountains. I'll remember the dinners we had around his and Sandra's dinner table, the nights we gathered with other friends at Third Place Books to listen to music and visit with each other. I'll remember the times we saw Larry on the Snohomish Centennial trail as he rode his bike home from work. I'll remember all the times he came to my house to pick me up and all the trips he volunteered to be the driver. I'll remember how he loved to walk along the river in front of his and Sandra's house and when we would visit we would always end up on that walk. I'll remember how when we just stopped in to say hello we would find Larry up on the ladder working on something on the new house but he would come right down and spend an hour showing us his projects and sharing his plans. I'll remember how Larry looked at Sandra and touched her hand and how happy they were together. I'll remember when Larry came to the hospital to be with Jim and I. I'll remember how he arranged and helped to fix our emergency leaking roof while Jim was in the hospital. I'll remember the times Larry shared with me when he was sad and the many more times he shared when he was happy. Larry was a part of my life, he was a dear friend and I'll miss him very much.
