I had the privilege of knowing Larry for only a few months, but he always made me feel like an old friend. He was one of the first people I met in the Everett Mountaineers and one of the most welcoming. He quickly became a role model for everything that I would like to be. I can’t picture his face now without that ubiquitous big smile. The last time I saw Larry was high on the snowy slopes of Mt. Pilchuck, the afternoon before he died. I ran into him up there giving a one-on-one coaching/practice session to a scrambles student. That’s the kind of guy he was…gladly giving of his own time and effort to help someone else. The hole he leaves is immeasurable.
