I’ve known Larry a long time – we were in the Scramble Class together in ’94. Needless to say, meeting people like Larry was a great introduction to the Mountaineers and Seattle as I had recently moved here. Many people have commented about his genuine sense of happiness and well being – it radiated through his smile and demeanor – it touched and influenced me all these years. I always looked forward to a good blast of enthusiasum whenever there was an event or outing we were both on. Needless to say – I’ll remember the smile…big and bold and toothy… and a little mischievious at times like the twinkle in his eyes. I’ll also remember and cherish the long slow “wwweeelllllll…..yyyyeeeeaaaaahhhhhh” as he was taking in a comment or situation and contemplating a response. I appreciate and will miss Larry’s sense of community – the desire and ability to continually bring people together for fun or a good cause. There are and will be many other “little thing” memories for me: catnaps…cheap gas…coffee… This quote is on my refrigerator and serves as a simple life mission statement: Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Laugh. Play with abandon. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Practice wellness. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is. –M.A. Hershey Larry lived this quote and I know he’s in heaven cheering for all of us like he did while he was with us.
