This moment captured fog along the crest of a steep ridge, obscuring some trees while letting the tops of others penetrate through to show off their magnificent shapes in silhouette.
Moody moments like this are classic in moisture-laden Pacific Northwest mountain forests. Moist air from the Pacific Ocean rises up the steep ridges, cooling rapidly and condensing into up-slope fog drifting through the trees.
